Sumit Naig, MD

I believe in the power of psychotherapy combined with medications to address issues with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, attention issues, and other psychiatric illnesses.

Sumit Naig, MD

I work to understand a patient’s needs using a four part model- the life story as in where the client is in his/her life, the personality as in who she/he is as a person, the behavior as in how the client deals with her/his issues and finally the disease as in what the person has. I believe in collaborating with my patients to achieve the best outcome specific to them.

I am a board certified in adult psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I completed my B.S. from the University of Mumbai- India in Biochemistry and Microbiology. I pursued further studies in the field of basic sciences and earned a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. I earned my medical degree from the Tufts University School of medicine, Boston followed by residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Reviews for

Sumit Naig, MD

Dr. Naig is incredibly sharp when it comes to understanding my mental health from a treatment standpoint and also provides a humanistic approach. He is patient, and answers all of my questions regarding medication, symptoms and self-reflection. I am very grateful to have him as my doctor. 10/10 stars!

I've been going with Naig for 3 sessions and so far so good. I appreciate his capacity of understanding what I go through with my anxiety, and his knowledge on how to handle medication. I also like how he doesn't dose me up with meds, and finds a way for me to have a good balance. I'm grateful for his help.

Dr. Naig has been my psychiatrist for over a year now. Following a severe manic episode, he's managed my medications and taken them from a very heavy dose to a very low dose (which will hopefully end up being no dose at all). It was a delicate process to taper me off, and Dr. Naig made me feel very safe throughout the process. He is concerned about my overall well-being, and attentive to my questions and concerns. I feel like I can be completely open with him, which is important when dealing with mental health. During the times I had any difficulty transitioning between medication levels, he was very responsive by email as well. He has been able to answer my MANY questions about my specific episode and bipolar disorder in general. I am very grateful to have him as my doctor.
