Marissa Mannina, PhD

I have had the pleasure of providing therapy services for a culturally diverse range of individuals (children, adults, seniors), groups, families, and couples for over a decade.

Marissa Mannina, PhD

My role as your therapist will be collaborative and affirming, as I guide you in our work towards your goals. I understand and value the complexities of life that each individual person brings to our sessions. Therefore, I will support your functioning and well-being with interventions that consider your needs. My holistic, integrative approach includes attention to your inherent strengths, potential, and values. Our work may involve addressing strategies for coping with difficult emotions or relationships, discovering the underlying causes of an issue, learning in the moment how to be present and aware of your choices, or problem solving. The duration of therapy may be brief or take more time depending on content and goals of treatment. Some of the issues I have experience working with include; mood and anxiety disorders, stress, complex trauma, challenging transitions/adjustment, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, work issues and addictions. I enjoy helping people gain insight, enhance coping skills, and form healthy, satisfying relationships. I look forward to discussing your concerns and questions. I currently work with adults.

A licensed clinical psychologist, I received my Ph.D. from The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (renamed Sofia University) in Palo Alto. During my studies, I practiced psychodrama, process work, and holotropic breathwork. I completed my clinical hours in a variety of community mental health agencies, and a primary care setting here in the bay area. My clinical training has its foundation in a psychodynamic approach, and includes cognitive behavioral therapies, motivational interviewing, emotionally focused therapy, and mindfulness practices.

Reviews for

Marissa Mannina, PhD

Dr. Mannina is very warm and welcoming. She put me at ease at my first visit, my never having had therapy before. She has made me very comfortable expressing my thoughts and feelings. She is a good listener and validates my situation. I’m very glad she is my therapist.

I can’t say enough great things, my experience has been wonderful and not sure where I would be today without the help of my doctor and therapist.

She worked really hard to ensure I understood her methods and was comfortable and interested in entering into a therapeutic relationship.

Life Changing. I am learning to deal with my Anxiety in several ways. It is giving me many tools other than just meds or the emergency room.
