Yosra El-Menshawi, DO

Recognizing the role of unique experiences for each individual, I approach all of my patients in a holistic manner. I formulate my treatment recommendations based on an in-depth understanding of my patient’s history, biological and genetic influences, moral and spiritual values, and current personal challenges. As a former educator, I empower my patients with knowledge and have found that the best outcomes are with patients who understand their disease process. We will collaborate in building a treatment plan consisting of a combination of education, therapy, and, when appropriate, medication. I look forward to working with you to alleviate distress and improve your quality of life.

I have comprehensive training in mood, anxiety, psychotic, neurodevelopmental, and trauma related disorders. I was also exposed to a large patient population from variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds as well as socioeconomic levels. I further trained with the veteran population at Loma Linda’s Veteran Affairs hospital. I am currently pursuing a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Harbor UCLA. My road to Psychiatric Medicine was a unique one. Prior to pursuing medicine, I completed my Bachelors degree in Science Education at University of Central Florida and worked as a high school chemistry teacher. This invaluable experience gave me great insight to the adolescent and teenage mind. I also worked with adults and children with autism and intellectual disabilities at Threshold Center for Autism in Orlando, Florida. Based on my passion for working with individuals on the Autism spectrum, I pursued and later received certification as a PEERS (The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills) provider through training at UCLA.

I found her to be a clear communicator, comfortable to speak with openly, and immediately trustworthy.

Very smart, caring, seems to adapt care specifically to your needs and personality

We had a video appointment. She was very nice and helpful. I felt comfortable talking to her and felt that she was really trying to understand my needs and what treatment will work best for me.
