Stephanie Chan, MD

Psychiatrist

I am an empathic and compassionate Board-Certified Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist dedicated to delivering the most comprehensive care for the patient and family.

About

Stephanie Chan, MD

I am thorough in evaluating the patient – from biological, psychological, social, and cultural angles – for the most accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. I believe strongly that the success of treatment comes from the collaboration between provider and patient/family, which can be achieved through open communication and psychoeducation throughout the treatment process. In addition to being trained in management of various mood and anxiety disorders, I have special interests in transitional age/college youth, childhood depression, minority mental health, first break psychosis, trauma, women’s mental health, and ADHD. My approach involves various therapy modalities (including CBT, psychodynamic, mindfulness-based, and strength-based psychotherapy), medication management when appropriate, or a combination of both.

I completed my adult psychiatry residency training at University of Southern California (USC), and completed my child/adolescent psychiatry fellowship training at Harbor-UCLA, with experiences in both the private and public sectors. Other notable clinical experiences include the Women’s Wellness Clinic at USC collaborating with OB/Gyn department, providing mental health care to pregnant women; intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment at Twin Town Treatment Centers in Torrance; and I was the consulting psychiatrist at Loyola Marymount University for the Student Psychological Services in 2016-2017 academic year, providing care for undergraduate and graduate students. I am also fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.
