I work from a recovery-based perspective (i.e., everyone can heal and live a meaningful life), focusing on your strengths as a means to assist you in developing the areas that you struggle with. I’m here to help you develop the skills and tools needed to overcome the obstacles you face in your daily life. I do this through a variety of means (cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, mindfulness approaches, EMDR, and dialectical behavioral therapy) but, ultimately, what we do and how we do it depends entirely upon you and your goals in life. Working together, we will identify what it is that you wish to change in your life and how we can go about making that a reality.

In terms of my experience, I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with adjustment issues/life transitions, anxiety related issues, depression, trauma related issues (including chronic and complex PTSD), as well as those who struggle with severe mental health challenges (e.g., schizophrenia spectrum disorders and bipolar disorder). The majority of my career has been within the community mental health setting, integrated care setting, and the Veterans Administration Healthcare System. With that said, I have extensive experience working with Veterans as well as the Spanish speaking immigrant community. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University. I’m a strong advocate for social justice and on providing psychoeducation on microaggressions and their impact on us and on society as a whole.
