Therapy can be an uncomfortable experience, having to discuss personal issues with someone they have never met before and it is therefore important that you feel comfortable with your therapist. My goal is to create an environment that feels safe, attentive, engaging and dynamic, so that you and I can create a place you feel comfortable exploring your thoughts and feelings. Therapy is an experience specific to the individual which is why I use techniques from various schools of thought to help each individual or couple to the best of my ability. These include psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, solution focused, and emotionally focused therapy (EFT). Psychodynamic therapy provides a framework for clients to explore their current issues and feelings and examine the experiences from their past that may be influencing their emotional and behavioral responses. This form of treatment examines the complexities of interpersonal relationships. We enter into relationships with spouses, co-workers, friends and family with expectations and needs, some spoke and some unspoken. It is these needs and expectations that often lead to disappointment or conflict in relationships because you or your partner may not even be aware of them. Couple therapy will help the couple identify those needs and expectations and help each partner understand them and decide if they can be fulfilled. Couple therapy does not always begin with both partners wanting to enter therapy and it is my goal to help each partner find something to gain from the experience. When treating couples, my client is the relationship, and my goal is to improve the relationship, which may mean helping create a happier long-term relationship or finding a healthy way of ending a relationship. which may mean not the individuals in the relationship. I have experience working with heterosexual and homosexual and non-norm conforming relationships.
I received my Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College, with a major in Psychology. I received my Masters Degree and Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D.) from the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles at Alliant University, with an emphasis in Couples and Families. My training has included working with adolescents and their families, adult individuals and couples. I have worked in both short and long-term treatment formats, dealing with a variety of issues including anxiety, school performance issues, depression, issues of self-esteem, exploration of self and sexuality, communication and intimacy skills for couples.

I’d never had any experience with therapy, but it was recommended to me after I’d had some issues with anxiety. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with my experience with Dr. Koudsi. He was very understanding, empathetic and knowledgeable. I was able to talk through my issues without feeling judged or misguided. I would recommend therapy to anyone
Dr. Koudsi made me feel comfortable from the very first appointment. His laid back demeanor put me at ease and enabled me to speak freely. I love the way he listens, and then can see connections in experiences that relate to existing issues.
Dr.. Koudsi has been a positive influence and an empathetic listener. His honesty and candor help makes him a trustworthy and appreciated therapist.
Dr Koudsi is very good at remembering key topics discussed at previous appointments, and helping me to “connect the dots “ with my therapy. He’s a great person and a great listener. I feel very fortunate to be working with him.
