Sheperd Aziz, MD

While I have experience treating a broad spectrum of psychiatric concerns, my professional areas of interest include ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, and helping people increase interpersonal effectiveness.

Sheperd Aziz, MD

My approach to psychiatry is integrative, individualized, and culturally-informed. I am a firm believer in empowering patients and imparting resilience through non-pharmacological means. In my practice, I use psychotherapeutic techniques such as psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based therapies, while acknowledging the necessity and utility of medications in certain cases and situations.

I was born in Iran and raised in New York and Los Angeles. In addition to English, I speak fluent Persian and some Hebrew. I completed my undergraduate degree in biopsychology at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB), medical school at the Touro University Nevada, general psychiatry residency training at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and I am currently completing a subspecialty fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). My research experience includes clinical trials of stimulant medications for ADHD and esketamine for refractory depression.
