I’m four weeks pregnant. I think I’ve always suffered from depression but have not sought treatment. It’s getting worse. Are there any options for me?
Yes, definitely. Depression during pregnancy and post partum
can be very serious and effect both you and your baby. It should be treated. I
would recommend consulting with a psychiatrist. Therapy alone might be
adequate. But if medication is needed, there are anti-depressants that are
options. Your psychiatrist will discuss the risks and benefits with you and
your partner and help you make the best decision.
